So my choco mama scovy "feona" apparently laid her first egg of season, or one of her daughters did, but she was an acre away and wanting nothing to do with going in for feed even, until two males made a break for her. "Ferdinand"her new mate was guarding the nest box with egg in it not letting anything near it except me when i petted and calmed him (he was really mad and had blood not his on face again). gotta get landlord to let me set traps in locked old barn next to old chicken coop ducks are in. I've seen some of my male scovy regularly eat med sized black rats and large brown rats, so guessing something else. Wondering if hardware cloth or other wire could be put on ground and covered with pea gravel, sand, ect. and not worry about hardware poisoning from rusty water ect pooling?

will misting eggs withwarm water help raise humidity? i know mothers wet feathers and carry water to dribble over them, then a lot more around hatch..

Yes. Stop turning the eggs.

The last three days of the hatch the eggs should not be turned. This is so that the chicks or ducklings can get into position to hatch.

As to raising humidity.

You can mist the eggs if you want, but I usually have a bowl of water (put where there is NO risk of hatchlings falling in) with crumpled paper towel sticking out of the water. Clean cardboard or a sponge work too. This helps to pull the water from the bowl of water onto a greater surface area so that more water can enter the air.

It's okay I put 5mml in it yesterday and put 3mml in today and locked down 40 minutes ago

Buck, I used the first site and it worked really well for me when I was doing duck eggs for the first time. They had just happened to be muscovy

I have that link about muscovies book marked and I have all my books out on hatching right now, as well as it's a very high tech incubator, and stuff so I'm good, I think it's my 5th hatch but I'm not sure since every hatch is different than the others

If she is sitting on that many eggs then she's going to need some help. the ducklings will have a much better chance having 2 mamas watching over them.
