Kids took two of the dogs for a walk the other day and left my border collie mix. She attacked my hen and tore her up some. It's not too bad so I'm hoping she heals. She's got a nest of eggs she just started incubating. The dog attacked my male duck several weeks ago but hasn't bothered them since. She even lays with them. I guess she was bored and upset because she got left home alone. And she's in heat (which is why she had to stay home). She keeps jumping the fence and laying next to the hen now like she feels bad. I don't get it. Crazy dog.

Maybe when she actually lays near them, shes looking for a chance to get them when they're weak, but I'm not there so I wouldn't know

At what age should I start to notice caruncle development?

At a little over one month, I began to see the little knob of caruncle in my male ducklings. They are now 3 months old and they all have the bright red caruncles showing. At three months, they are also showing the caruncle develop around the eyes.

She sleeps next to the ducks. I think she was just acting out. She hasn't been taken on a walk for about a week because she's in heat.

I dont think that has nothing to do with that. Birds arent like us humans or dogs, cats, nor horses. Your male probably isnt breeding her.

No I stopped breeding them a week ago and I sat and watched just to make sure very thing was inserted to certain place , needless to say I'm scared for life, but yes everything was inserted and they bred probably twice or more a day for over two weeks

thats why they arent fertile. Your not breeding them.
