I've been having 3 wild mascovy ducks hang around outside my porch I've been feeding them so now they are waiting outside for me everyday staying under the porch occasionally and they follow-up me around outside however there is a giant pond in front of our house with a flock of wild Canada gooses that come in the yard and try to run the ducks off the other day a goose came my yard and the wild duck bit him twice and took a huge chunk of his feathers off and bit him again the next day .. the goose absent came in the yard since

Thanks. As I said, they do look like my

Muscovy drake; however, if they aren't hinnies, what would account for the huge size difference at hatching and their jet-black bills? Their two chocolate pied siblings are half their size with the typical pink Muscovy bills. I know size difference between genders does not show up until later. I do know that my Cayuga drake did try to mate with the Muscovy hen that laid those eggs. I do not know how successful he was.

Okay trying to figure this out. I have a yellow chick who was fully yellow at hatch (she was one that almost didn't make it and then turned it around.) Now she has a very light brown highlight on her feathers. What color will she be. Also I don't know it's a she I am just hoping. What do you think? Boy or girl what are your thoughts. This is another one I want to keep I think it's chocolate but it also has some black on it's back Boy or girl what do you think?

I dont know about gender, but with the yellow duckling having a dark bill. It will not be solid white. Keep us updated with pix, they are gorgeous

@LilyD , when mine hatch yellow then get some coloring in their tails they end up a barred pattern.

Picked up two more juvenile females for my flock yesterday, can't wait to see what they look like fully grown!

Have another broody girl sitting on 21 eggs!

Also, update from awhile ago: momma duck DID end up taking in the 5 older ducklings I had! (I put them in with her as her eggs were hatching) All are sold now, except for these two

which one the bad ones? Theyre already gone and nothing I could of done to save them. The new ones, you cant tell till later down the line unless you break them open. Then I have no eggs to put under her.

Well hermione, is just not happy. When I get close she will go towards the eggs, but I have yet to see her sit on them and she just doesnt seem happy. If she doesnt sit by tomorrow im going to give them to bellatrix and put hermione back

The white one will become barred, all yellow babies that have a black beak become barred

The white one will become barred, all yellow babies that have a black beak become barred

Not just ones with black beaks, I have several with pink beaks that are barred. -Kathy
