Hello! so been really busy with pups being born. n chicks and ducklets hatching.. so first had trouble with two females, well three or four at first, stealing eggs n ducklets. one stole some chicken eggs and wasn't about to let me get them back and had nestled under ol outhouse/chook coop. lol

Had moved new hens to coop from quarantine area and had just moved broody hen n went back for her chicks. anyone can guess what i flund??? yup a scovy nestled over them n hissing striking n snapping at me when got too close, her gal pal and a male close and same at me. Later after they make a nest under front porch, i racked out eggs n nests as best could to put pups under.. well the male then two females went right back apparently as i went out and as mamma had gone off to patrol n hunt, found the scovies had taken up in nest and kept stuffing puppies under them when they pop lil heads out from under fluff. the male still lets pups play and wrestle on etc, females not so much but tolerate, but male stands watch close to when they sleep anywhere outside. still and any other males that wanted to try to kill and or eat when they were smaller recieved hell incarnate (he is usually a push over largest but most submissive and friendly) with everything he had which i didn't know he had as other males kept him on fringes not letting him eat feed at all. Recent pics as "mammas"would attack and or stuff pups under them n "daddy" would block me (he is so gentle never been mean to me or ladies or chooks). The chicken egg thief hatched two chook eggs she stole, rest blew up of bunch stuffed under scovy hens after the one stole n i thought good idea.. maybe wasn't as bad something or other leading to chook and scovy eggs not developing etc, rotting and blowing up etc.

Sadly selling off most of scovy real cheap though, as buyers originally backed out that hatched for, then other wanted them when feathered, n now just having to cut losses n getting $5 for females. n rest basically for free.. heck one, to three, herding tracking lgd working farm dog pups, may go cheap to free too now. was getting $100.00 cause already traind to all commands, tracking then digging out burrows n killing (n eating.. ewww..), small rodents, n faced down a skunk from across road as pack barking snarling bristling n growling till it left (nanny eighty pound OLD GSD was watchhing at vantage spot to stop problem). So i thought good for hundred dollors from working stock. parents. seems rude that all just say they should get pups for free seeing how well act, as they'll have to retrain anyway how they want, or that all dogs are same and how act doesn't matter (at eight weeks they play gentle with newly hatched poultry, barking etc at strang animals and people getting instinctively between the poultry and anyone or thing. one breedist elite with skeevy one trick pony at best dogs for every occasion super rich woman on my local groups keeps blocking my ads, and slandered my pups, saying " they are MAYBE farm dogs.. at best.. if even that.." etc.. when was having someone ask me about puppies. Then continued on about how her choice of one of three"great pyraneese mountain dogs", and how only dog capable and worth having to guard, was her: huge slow escape artist and known roamer and runner as well as small stock killer and have to be cruelly isolated to bond to large stock, dogs she charges thousands for cause "show stock".. slander me but not dogs of mine that are way too good for me!

Miss Lydia,
I think good parenting behavior is common with Muscovy drakes. My drake takes very good care of his babies from the time they hatch. He is even very good when we have baby chicks in the pen with them. I've kept him for that very reason, and it's one of the reasons I love my Scovies so much! We've got four ducklings at the moment and I'm hoping he passes that trait along to his drakelings.

Yeah.. sorry but just erks me when breed elite get after me or someone personally, that because show qualities are bought by vote literally, that a dog with a piece of paper saying its only worth what looks like, that greater than an actual working dog. my male won blue ribbons, female said by judge id sold birds to said she felt and looked show quality, but both herded tracked n guarded neighbors cattle, my flocks n free range rabbits (no fences at all btw), my gf (not me really.. meh), n property.

Laughingdog, dont lower the price on the dogs, those are well trained dogs. If they are everything you say and being the face they are guard dogs, you can get up to 200... if someone feels the need to make you go free then shoo them somewhere else. These dogs are well trained, them retraining is their choice no one elses. Therefore they can pay the 100...

Honestly, i cannot claim anything but teaching to leave it, sit n lay and stay erc stupid pet tricks/ basic obedients some. rest just from father: just collie, standard collie, ol time collie, rough collie, scottish shepherd, or "lassie dog". mother ACD-Austrian Cattle Dog (NOT the fluffy different eye n try colored "aussie").

I'm in TN were quality of living is lower than cost of living.
