Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I know this doesn't fit the conversation but back to the idea of them trying to populate the earth, I let four hens sit and ended up with 44 ducklings. One mother hatched 17 while two mothers sitting on the same nest only hatched 9. I find that pretty funny. Anyway, I guess I am just posting as exhibit #1 for the earlier posts of Muscovies populating the earth.

I have about a dozen females and a drake.
I gave some of the resulting bigger goslings to my neighbours for eating. However, they decided to breed them. they´re inundated with muscovies. I control mine by taking nearly all the eggs away. This time, I only wanted to breed one female because of her colour (she laid 14, that´s a lot for mine, they usually lay around 6 or 8), so all her eggs have been divided up between 3 females, and the other eggs were for eating.
I gave some muscovies to another neighbour, but I rarely see ducklings. I think they lose them to preds a lot. And their dogs....I´ve seen the dogs burying 6-week-old dead goslings in their yard.
I´ve now found an outlet for my few muscovies that I breed, in a seed merchant´s nearby. Crazy, as people prefer to go there and pay more for the birds, than to drive just a little further and buy them from me.
Sharing nests doesn´t usually have such good results as individual ones.

All 8 of our ducks lasted throughtheir first night on the pond! That just happened to be the same night as a storm, but I guess thats what follows a beautiful day. The magpies are oldest, a week older than the scovies, and im not quite sure how old the pekin is, but its no more than 8 weeks and she is biggest of course. I am so proud of thrm :)

Delightful.  What a dear little duckling. I only have muscovies now, but I used to have magpies. They were so sweet, but I didn´t keep them as they were too easy prey to possums.  The muscovies take more care of the babies, it seems.

Muscovies are my favorite. Low maintenance, great mothers and quiet. Waddles is like a dog she knows her name
