Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I have a 25'x50' enclosure that houses 10 sex-link hens which I do not allow out. This same enclosure holds 30+ white Muscovy ducks and 5 Midget White turkeys at night. My 14 year old son (the duck herder) opens the door in the morning and only the turkeys and ducks come out and at or near dark he opens and holds the door open and all the ducks AND turkeys enter for the night. No problem. We have some bamboo poles, but he hasn't used them in months. It really couldn't be any easier for him.

Note: Under no circumstances would I recommend putting ducks in with chickens if the ducks were not fully feathered and grown. Chickens are miniature velociraptors and will kill ducks that aren't feathered out yet.

(Replying to note) don't worry I watch my baby birds like a hawk(except without the appetite) no harm will be allowed if anything tries to heart my babies I turn into a vicious Tyrannosaurus rex

Cool. We have a couple of poplar branches stripped of leaves that we call "duck sticks". The ducks know they are not to go toward the stick, so we can easily herd them. Tonight, I just opened the garden gate and the ducks came out, did their usual head-bobbing, etc and went into the pen all on their own! Tomorrow night they have to go in the greenhouse due to cold. All the ducks we've had would herd easily with just a long stick!

I got long bamboo stakes from the dollar store to use, frankly the mallard derived herd better than scovies BUT they are definitely capable of herding they just require a bit more work with it(the scovies)

My ducks all return to the pen at dusk or close after... that i am grateful for.

My ducks and the eight layer ducks I'm sitting all herd easily when I walk behind them. usually they can see the net fencing of their new pen, and know were their supposed to go, which makes it easier. once you get them used to going some were, herding them is a breeze. The chickens are a bit harder, but They usually follow me if I have a bucket.
