Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I just do the green and yellow. yesterday after we were all discussing this I go out to find one of my young ducks over on the other side of the fence, she has one wing clipped, I think someone was picking on her and over she went but still trying to figure out how she was frantically trying to figure out how to get back in. When I picked her up I could see i hadn't clipped far enough on her feathers so she got another clip I think the main thing is clipping right up to where the purple starts on the diagram I got lax on that with a few, so I did another over too. Just always be sure they are completely finished with molt before you clip.
Thank you Miss Lydia. That is great info! This time I'll get it right for sure
Welcome to scovie land! I have er... two white females and now 3 drakes... i have more than that but that is what i have for whites!
thank you for the welcome :) it seems duck math is a lot like chicken math :)
Okay my 3 boys already did this one but wanted to get him Opie 3.5 yrs on the same page as my other 2 scoundrels err drakes. Andrew[Andy] 2.5 yrs old top Henry lower at 1.5 yrs From the looks of it I'd say Opie maybe the daddy of Henry Okay everyone pics of your look a like drakes :pop
very pretty!
I lost one of my Duck hens this morning. :(
so sorry to hear that. Hopefully it was just curiosity and she'll come back. My French whites aren't full grown but they seem to big to be fliers. Glad I got on here to find out. I'll clip after this storm lets up.

Anyone know how drakes are with a mama scovy hen with ducklings?
My friends hens would leave the flock and stay away from the drakes until babies were older.
I will just have a pair so I'm wondering if he'll try to kill them. Since there's only 2, I can't see him wanting to stay away.
I can pen her if she needs it when the time comes

My drake was not particulary friendly with his offspring, but ignored them most of the time and never really bothered ducklings.

Some drakes can be real jerks towards ducklings, and it is not unheard of that drakes (and ducks aswell) have killed ducklings.

I have seen the same with my drakes but I like to err on the side of caution and keep mom and ducklings in plain sight of everyone with temp fencing and their own house for night. I keep them this way for at least 3 weeks.

Yes I agree one of my hens had babies and the roo just ignored them but the other hens tried to slaughter them literally no joke so I had to separately pen them i know those aren't hens but I can't imagine ducks reacting much different

I checked my Ducks. still no sign of the run away. I will have to clip wings tonight.

All except my drake since he is a poor flier, and he won't leave his hens.
