I think mine did a little better when my temperature shot up because they were not actively hatching at the time, so the chicks didn't get hit with a direct heat wave. The intact shells provided a buffer zone at least. I don't think any of mine could do a direct roast either!

Yeah that was sad.Do you own geese? If so do you know how to hatch their eggs I have read a lot but truthfully you know a lot about birds which is really awesome and I would really like to know how to hatch geese eggs because I just got my first goose egg and I think I'm going to end up having to hatch it cuz mom is still a baby & I don't think she is quite ready for that commitment so if you do please pm me.

Update: The duckling hatched and hopefully 6 more by Feb 8?

This looks like a pekin, hopefully the remaining eggs since they are taking longer are scovy's

My broody is nearly on her lock down too, fingers crossed I get more duckling from her

that fuzzlet is so cute. How did the Pekin get under scovy mama? Did a Pekin hen lay it in her nest? Mama's cute too.

I have a question, I just came home from work and found the incubator temp 106 and humidity 44 When I left this morning it was 100 temp and 54 humidity, it had been holding up well till today, I thought there goes my hatch but when looking at each egg, 1 egg has cracked I can see the ducklings beak and it made the squeaky duckling noise, what should I do? should I crack the egg shell all the way or leave it till morning? @Miss Lydia @LadyHawkeAvry or anyone with experience pls advice, I also posted in the HAL thread
Its shouldnt be that high!!!! if an egg cracked then surely move the temp down to 97 to 98 degrees!, anything over 102 can kill the baby!!! your lucky if one truly did survive ! i hope they're okay and please be more careful

That baby is adorable! Is it straight pekin? I'm glad some of your baby's survived!

I hatched that in an incubator after eggs were abandoned by a different scovy, I have 6 more eggs left in a bator. Mama may also be sitting on mixed eggs too because they are housed together and share nests.

that is sweet, so when the eggs hatch, you'll both be surprised. Tell her, "good job."
