Any idea why do people abandon the Muscovies? Not what they wanted after they're past the "fuzzy and cute" stage? They seem like pretty laid back birds.

It's possible. Where my dad used to work, people would dump chickens because they bought easter chicks and didn't want them once they had grown up.

They're the same people that dump puppies and kittens once they're no longer "cute".

People don't realize that they're taking responsibility for a living being, not a toy. Once you take that on responsibility, you have to carry it through to the end, and there are a lot of people who just can't handle that.

I feel sorry for their kids.

I lot of people can be that way.

We have a lot of dumped animals around here. Anything from dogs and cats to horses and goats. You'd think they would at least find a good home for them.

These people get tired of them when they grow up.They are no longer new & cute.So they figure their an animal and that means they will do just fine in the wild because that's where they came from.What they don't realize is that domesticated animals are like children that can't be left without adult supervision & care.I am really sad for all these animals just imagining how confused they must be.They put all there trust into their owners & then abandoned?! They must be so hurt.Makes me want to cry.

The drake is blue and the duck is a silver with the chocolate gene. I like both but the hen is a very pretty buff color.

That's disappointing to hear, but not surprising. I guess it's the result of being a throw away society that is mostly isolated from nature.
