Can ducks have Amprolium?
Aw
So freaking beautiful! I love this one
Your supposed to keep the mom and ducklings in a confined protected area for at least 8 or so weeks, preferably longer. Anything can get those babies or could have happened, even other ducks can kill the babies, not purposely of course, just something small that got their attention. crows snatch them up to. u need to get them some where safe or take the ducklings up from the motherI'm afraid things have not gone well with my ducklings. The first day my duck hen got off the nest, she went out with all 14 ducklings, and all seemed to be doing just fine. The next morning when I went out to feed and water, I found 6 dead ducklings in the nest were she had spent the night. Two of them were a about a foot away from the nest. I looked them over, no sign of any kind of trauma or injury. The duck hen had 8 more ducklings with her, but one was slow, and having a lot of difficulty keeping up. I brought it inside, and gave it to my mom to take care of. I took care of the other animals, and went to check the duck hen, but she only had 5 ducklings, 2 had disappeared. Nothing could have gotten them predator wise. We searched, but could not find any trace of them. I chased the duck and her ducklings back into the stall and locked her in. An hour or so later I came back to check on them and the hen was down to 4 ducklings, she had lost another one. I still have not found any dead ducklings, so I have no idea what happened to the 3 missing ones. I made the decision to pull the 4 surviving ducklings and put them in the brooder. They slow duckling died after just a couple of hours. My mom mentioned that the duckling seemed small, and suggested it might be some kind of genetic issue. Thoughts? The 4 surviving ducklings are doing well, but are super skittish. I'm going to try to tame them. Has any one ever had anything like this happen? I not sure what to do now, especially since I have 3 more ducks do to hatch soon.![]()
