my muscovies layed eggs between May 20th and June 10th. they got broody but I have no fertile eggs. when can I expect them to lay again so that I get a drake on time?

After being broody it takes mine about 2-3 weeks to come into lay again.

Hi, all! I have a couple of questions. Are muscovy mom's usually bad/indifferent moms? Two of my females have hatched nests; but they'll leave the babies behind,and as a result we lost those first two nests. One of my girls was brown and white. Her brown color really bleached out while she sat her nest. She doesn't look very good, and I'm wondering if this is normal? What can I do?

Some are yes. you just never know from one duck to the next which one is going to be the perfect mama duck. I've had both. and if she sat out side in full view of the sun it does bleach out dark colors, once she molts she will be good as new.
Always better for mamas and ducklings to be broody in secure houses when nothing can get to mama or babies.

Is it dry under the straw? Looks kind of wet to me.

No its dry. The "wet" look is from the color of the dog house

Perhaps an egg broke in the nest?

No, no egg broke. They were as white as the others just the other day. I got them from someone for my first time sitters. Never seen this happen befor
