these are our new quackers we got yesterday. Francis (left) and Ferdinand (right), they are in a run of their own as they only arrived yesterday and are not ready to be in with the rest of the flock as yet, they seem like lovely birds, very new to Muscovy. not sure if they are boys or girl though lol x

I think they are both boys, but I'm not sure.

that's kinda what I was thinking, i'm new to ducks full stop these were free to a good home and was hoping to hatch muskies next year myself so it was too good an opportunity to pass up on. do you know if 2 boys will get on ok together there are no girls at all.

I read that a muscy breed with any other breed of duck will be sterile. is this true? the kids have magpie and kacki in their bators. I know this is a Muscovy thread but just wondered if they should all be kept separate?

Hi guys..i'm still new here..i'm kenji..from penang Malaysia..love all the muscovy pic here. Btw i have a pair of muscovy..i just lost the male to predator :( its sad though..they 3 months old..i bought another 5 solid white muscovy ducklings..i hope the female can wait though till those ducklings grow up..i think 2 from 5 duckling is male..i feel sad to see the female is all alone. :'(

No need to keep them separate but your Scovy boys will mate with any other breed of duck and their off spring will be sterile . The drakes should be fine together especially if they were hatched together they are beautiful boys. Maybe look for some females if you want Scovy ducklings next year.

@kenji92 Welcome to BYC and very sorry to hear about your drake being taken, duck is high on the menu of most predators so I hope you have a secure area for your lone female and your ducklings when you put them with her. If the weather is warm in your part of the world begin to introduce your 3 month old to your ducklings through fencing this way when the ducklings are old enough to go in with her they will have already gotten use to each other. Just remember we have to keep them safe.

Post some pics when you can.

would love ducklings from my muskies next year, but I doubt i'll have to wait, can't get my hands on eggs this late in the year to hatch my own, and we are such a small island not may folk keep them, and those who do are presious about their female birds. boys you can get easy enough no matter what species. I have got some feelers out looking for a few girls though. these boys (as this is what most folk think they are) were born/hatched locally in august so are young boys yet, and still just settling in. what would the best thing to give them as a treat? chookies quail guinea and turkers go mad for meal worms, they would sell their soul for them. can muskies eat them? I feel bad when everyone else if getting nice stuff and their not x
