Muscovy keepers share your pics!

You should see mating in the spring, as for eggs mine have always laid at or around 9 months old and they grew up eating great. Maybe mine just take longer to mature.

My hens were hatched in may (so they are about 8 months old now). I hatch most of my ducklings in the spring and they usually start laying late winter, early spring of the following year. Maybe your nine scovys are just bigger than your other ducks? Scovys very a lot size wise. I have some hens that are almost half the size of others.

I have muscovie ducks only. I have noticed that my 9 young ones that were hatched at my place are much more advanced than 4 I bought. I will wait and see.

I would keep all your lavender based birds together. The lavender drake with his mom, the cream pied hen and the black hen split to lavender. From this cross you will get lavender, creams, and chocolate and black splits. All birds will either be a variation of lavender or carry lavender.

I would avoid mixing lavender and blue. Blue can mask the lavender gene and mess up the color. You can breed your two blue pieds together for blue, black, silver in pieds and solid birds. You may also get some solid whites as well.

Yeah I'm wanting pastels. I know you have to add lavender (bird needs to at least carry lavender) so was thinking of the lavender boy with mom to get a chocolate drake split to lavender. Then get rid of my lavenders and keep only chocolate blue and cream ducks to get all the pastels I can get.

Here's most of my birds. I also have another chocolate hen now.

Ouch! Hope you get help. I'll be interested to hear of the answer.

You are fairly close to me I live off of 290 1/2 way between Brenham and Giddings. Do you know of a hatchery for ducks that is fairly close? I know of the one in Cameron, TX but wondering if there is one closer.

Good Luck
