One of my muscovy hens is very over eager and last time she started lining the nest with feathers when she only had 4 eggs and wasn't sitting on them full time yet. Lol. Sometimes they just keep laying eggs and don't pull feathers.

She didn't have feathers or anything in the nest and it was still getting in 30s at night once in a while. She didn't even have them in the building. She made her nest right under the pond where they could get wet and little protection. I was just sure it was going to be a failure. Then the last week my drake started digging underneath her with his beak and kicking eggs out when she would get up to eat. So I put the eggs back and gave him the boot and finally at 40 days after she started sitting they started hatching. At day 42 I helped the last one out as he was chirping away but not cracking through the egg. He was malpositioned but very healthy. So I got 12 healthy babies now out of all that.

Hello,so my broody muscovy finally hatched her own baby's.she hatched four successfully.well one is smaller then the others and she won't stay With it.and it's week.What do I do

I would put it in a brooder and give it some electrolytes. Keep it separated for a couple of days and then put it back in with her when it regains its strength.
 
Anyone ever hatch muscovy eggs using a chicken by chance? I lost my hens and trying to find hens around to by here in Northern Michigan but not having much luck. Wondering about having some eggs shipped to me. I heard they are hard to hatch in an incubator so thought maybe my bantams can hatch them. I use them for hatching my peafowl but never have tried a duck. Any thoughts?

I hatch them all the time in incubator
