Oh wow okay. I was reading a couple of threads on here about getting them off the nest and taking the eggs and smoothing it out to break it. Thanks! Hopefully I can make it through the broody times without bruises lol.

I have tried locking them out of their house they end up hanging on the hardware wire wanting back inside. I did get one to stop brooding by taking her off and taking out all old bedding and putting in new but it has never worked for any of the others. They are persistent

I can slip eggs in an out with minor bruises lol as long as they still have eggs to sit on. It's if I try to remove one completely from the nest That is where serious injury can occur. [JK]

Fortunately, it's mostly enthusiasm rather than actual viciousness.

My lavender Muscovy won't leave one of my Peking females alone. Every five minutes he/she is pinning her down and now she's bleeding from under a wing. My family is getting everyone back in pen so I can check her out. I have bleed stop powder as well as the normal Neosporin and such. Should I pen him off or take her out do you think?

Give bully time out from everyone If bleeding alot use the bleed stop if not just clean the area and use the neo with out pain.If you took her out it probably would just make the bully that much more persistent in his or her picking. .

Thanks. I had to bring her into chicken coop so I could see her cut. It's a decent one. I did learn that she is a very sweet girl that doesn't seem to mind being held once you catch her. I put her sister in with her till tomorrow so I can check wound again then I plan on putting Pluto in jail for a bit.
The question I was typing before Chatty went walking by all bloody was if Banty eggs are too small to put under a broody Muscovy? I have a frizzled banty roo and three hens that just started laying and I wouldn't mind trying for a couple frizzled hens. The Zappa is the cutest little guy ever and two of the hens have silver spangled Hamburg in them.

I really don't think Bantam eggs or reg chicken eggs would make it long under a Muscovy. The shells just wouldn't hold up to the claws when moving them around. But I bet if you give your bantams time and leave their eggs you'll have a broody hen soon. My bantams live to brood just not warm enough here yet.

How long do you guys normally lock a bully up for? I have an open part of coop for them now but my chicks are going out there this weekend I think.

Keep him there till you move the chicks out. See how he acts once let with the rest hopefully being separated will cool him off some.
