One of the white ones has taken over my blue Muscovy named Nibble's nest. Nibble just started pulling out feathers to line the nest and now one of the 2 whites I got today has stolen it!

My girl Pocka just hatched ducklings 4 days ago and she has also stolen a nest of eggs that hasn't been lined with feathers yet.

Yeah there was only one dead one. Got a crack in the side and was really dark. Not sure if it was the leftover one from Andromida I put under her. Hoping they all hatch at once so I can get her down to the floor. She stopped sitting every time we messed with her last week. Has anyone noticed how quickly the broody girls become your buddies when you bring them food and water towards the end? She went from attacking me to chilled out just because I hand fed her so she wouldn't have to get up. Heres a fun molt pic of big daddy Neptune

So tonight had a major scare.
I was in the process of locking everyone up at dusk, i have to put my keeping ducks in with my chickens until i can move their run and coop which i had to use for a night for a butchering job. But anyway. I went to catch my duck Nibbie a self blue muscovy hen to lock her in her coop and she turned on a dime away from the drinking pool next to my porch. Here is where the story gets scary.
When she turned and came back at me my foot placed inches from a three foot timber rattle snake who was crawling out from under my porch. I heard it rattle when i got near it, thankfully i didn't get bit. All ducks are unharmed and the snake was killed. Nibbie let me hold her and nearly cry on her shoulder she draped her head over mine we both were shaking. Not once have i seen one on my property and i have been here close to nine years.

Wow glad it turned out okay. Where I'm from we didnt really have anything poisonous so I could be a little tom boy and catch any snake I came across. Now that we moved I freak out, normaly over nothing, every time I see a new one!
