Sweetie decided she didn't want to be white anymore, and turned herself into a Chocolate Barred! :D

I sort of had a test year to see if my "lavenders" really are. I swapped one of my "lavender" drakelets last year for a solid black hen. She hatched out 16 babies, 14 of which were black, one "lavender" and one dark ripple. She does not have white head, and almost half the ducklings were atipico blacks. I'm guessing those two outliers were not her eggs. They are all together and do fight over/lay in each others nests which makes it even harder to tell what is coming from who. I have both black drakelets and hens from that clutch. I only have 2 "lavender" drakes, and one chocolate drake in the adults. The black hens could not be from the chocolate drake so I think it's a pretty good indication that the others are indeed lavender. I did have someone comment they thought the "lavender" hens looked like they could be hiding a blue gene on facebook. The hen they said looked lighter in the middle, than neck and tail. I don't notice it so much in person, but it does look that way in the picture. They all also look horrible right now and need to molt lol so I couldn't tell you at the moment.

The hen they were talking about:

Most of the adult flock this winter in fairly fresh feather:

The other hatches of ducklings have been, 3 blue out of the nest of a lilac, quite a few ripple (2 being chocolate, my first of those, the rest dark), "lavender", and I got my first looney this year. Adult hen colors are black, black split to "lavender", lilac, dark ripple, bibbed dark ripple, lilac, chocolate, and "lavender".

The 23 I have been keeping in the garage, you heard that right, IN the garage, so hard to keep clean. Mostly ripples and lavender with one looney, and 5 black:

Sorry about the post being a giant jumble. I'm excited to be getting more atipico babies, and fun colors since I'm trying to go that direction. I think they are all dapper looking birds lol.
