i was told on an australian poultry forum that she is a he. the person told me they could tell by her beak, head, and tail i think.. i thought you were supposed to look at feet and that was the difference? and then when they are full grown drakes are bigger than ducks?
The boys have pretty long tails. it's hard to say from that picture but she does seem to have a lot of featehring for a boy of 4-5weeks old but maybe it's just the picture? mine are about the same age so you could TRY to do a little comparing with the ones in my pictures.
the girls are pretty obvious. Miss Buttons is a girl and so is the little one i posted on another thread "i love this duck".
Here actually, I will repost for you...
It's small differences but mostly a size thing. believe me, it would be MUCH easier if you had a sibling, lol. But with these 2 babies, Buttons is nearly fully feathered already while Mr. Perfect still has to grow in all of his back feathers. Perfect also has HUGE feet and a Long tail.
5wk old hen: "Buttons"
5wk old drake: "Mr. Perfect"
I just found this one too, Buttons next to a Drakelet of the same age:
i know it would be sooo much easier!!! i was only able to keep one cuz i was told NO MORE DUCKS then my dad wanted mallards, so of course he won
LOL
hmm idk. i will go back and look when she is 5 weeks. she's starting to lose fuzzy head feathers.. idk it's hard for me to tell right now.. and knowing me i'm going to sit here and make myself think she's a girl cuz that's what i'm hoping for LOL but i hope you are right! LOL when duckie and quack quack were little, quackers was a bit bigger than duckie and feathered faster than him.. i thought she was maybe a few days older
