Hi there! New to the community. I have no chickens nor do I have a barn but I do have a lot of a Muscovy ducks that live around the lake that we live on down in florida. I came here because I have a question regarding one of The Mamas that has laid quite a few eggs right in front of our house. We've had many ducks that have laid eggs, very successfully, in front or around our house in the past. But this mama has got me wondering what in the world is going on. First off, we have a possum that lives nearby that has been known to go after eggs when the mothers leave the nest. But with this mama... I'm not sure what is going on. First she started with about 8 eggs. Then I saw the numbers starting to go down. I'm assuming the possum has gone after some of the eggs but usually when he did that he would leave the eggshells nearby. I haven't seen that this time around. Now we're down to only one egg that she's sitting on. The thing is, it's been about 2 months since she's been on the nest. If not more. Do you think this egg is still viable or should I grab it and toss it into the lake? Help!
