ok. thank you. i have 20 started in another incubator. I'll have to keep in mind that they will take longer than 38 days?

They shouldn't go longer than 35, maybe 37. What humidity is your incubator? Do you have additional sensors?

I'll have to get a better thermometer. perhaps my temp is slightly too low.

Here is a photo of the Hinnies (adult size) with their muscovy mum. I was told they could be half mallard but that previous owner had appleyard also.

Our ducks are also very likely mule ducks (we think pekin X muscov). Here are some pictures of them:
At the first picture they were about 3 weeks old and the last one about 8 months.

Yes indeed, most domesticated ducks are from mallards. In this case there are wild mallard drakes flying around that mated with the muscovy mum, and the appleyard that is domesticated.
