One of my my muscovy males doesn't seem to dry off like the others. His feathers get all wet and he looks like a wet dog as opposed to the others who just have the water roll of basically??? He was injured by a 4 wheeled predator about 2 months ago but other than a slight limp is doing well. Any ideas what causes this ? can I do something? A little worried now with freezing nights.

He is not preening the way he should be. Your boy is suffering from poor hygiene. He will learn to keep himself oiled better or he is going to have a cold winter. Not much you can do about a slovenly duck.

My goose gets sopping wet when she goes broody because she doesn't groom herself the way she should. She looks like a drowned rat. I was really surprised the first time I noticed it. I had never seen any of my waterfowl looking wet before that.

Good luck with him.

I have a black male who has the same issue. Maybe puberty? Got greasy feathers?lol-Mine has been like this 2 years. Almost like hair spray on wet hair and let it dry. Its normal for him.
