Muscovy question

Pics
Do you guys free range your Muscovy’s? I’m wondering if I’m going to have to search for the first eggs, or if they will lay in their cabins... they sleep in their cabins every night, but they seem to have a steady routine everyday. Wake up early and wonder to the wet pond area, hang out munching on what ever they find. Mid morning they make their way to the fire pit area and hang out in the sun just under the deck until it’s time for their afternoon nap. When the wonder back to the cabin area and sleep under their dock until mid afternoon when they seem to do the whole morning routine over again 😂 all while staying a wings length away from all the chickens. I’ve been checking in all there favourite places, but nothing yet.

When I first started with Muscovy my land they laid all over any hiding place they could find. At that time not knowing better and then having instincts still in tack I would let them out to forage too soon. They’d go up under my husbands shop under the ramp going into their coop how they got there is beyond me. I used fencing and blocked off any place they could get into that wasn’t safe. Now they lay inside their house or the coop right across from theirs. Now if I could just get my crazy Runners an Buffs to realize when they feel an egg coming to get back in their house. But no they are just too busy and let it drop out where ever. I have been letting everyone out about 15 mins after day light just hoping everyone is finished laying.

2 more weeks until the hatch

Unfortunately no chick hatched, i was expecting that because is her first time but i have a little problem

I wanted to buy some muscovy ducklings from hatchery but i accidentally bought mulard ducklings, my question is: If my muscovys drake breeds with the mulard females are there going to be hatchable eggs?

Sorry to hear about your eggs not being fertilized. My Mack is sitting on her first batch of eggs and I’m thinking the same thing is going to happen.
wondering if I can candle them soon and pull a switcharoo on her if they aren’t fertilized.
I’m not sure about your mulard breeding with the drake, but from what I was reading last year I think you’ll get babies but they will be sterile. (But not sure)
