Muscovy ripple vs barring

I have googled my heart out and for the life of me can't find a real difference between ripples and barring. Anyone?

It looks like barred and rippled are the same pattern but the ripple there isn't as much contrast between the colors as a barred duck would have. Also, the barred ones don't tend to have the pattern throughout their bodies. It's just certain areas.

I saw this page to and was hoping that site would have more explanation. I saw.. well.. what I got from it was the barred pattern were larger white "bars" vs and narrow more scattered "ripple" however with the ducks they used its hard to tell whats what. I have a clutch of ducks that are starting to feather out and would love to know if they are barred or rippled and if the barring gene is the same or a variation of the ripple? or are they two separate genes?
