my duck is 7 1/2 weeks and hisses at my dog
i have never heard her hiss before until now
does this mean my she is turning into a he?

Not necessarily. Ducks can hiss somewhat, if it's nothing but hissing then it could very likely be a drake. Can you post a photo of it standing in profile?

why yes i can!

The top one was a few days ago, the bottom was like a week ago.
She's 8 weeks old today, well atleast i hope she's a she.

I actually think it's a female from that picture. It's not very long & the breast doesn't protrude like most drakelets do. With as much feathering as it has and how the wing feathers are growing in already w/out caruncling, makes me lean towards ducklet. I wouldn't bet the farm on it but that's my best guess.

I think it may be female too. The size of feet isn't always the way to go. I have a female with huge feet. But there is no hint of red on the top of beak and head and the breast doesn't look big enough for a male

In a few more week you will know. females hiss too, but they will also chirp later as an adult.

Keep us posted and of course more pics as she ages. nice looking muscovy

I agree about him being a male. Look at those frankenfeet!

Scovy drakes are great pets. If you spend a lot of time with them, they will soon adore you!

Oh yes, he is an angel
sits in my lap and he's awefully cuddly
he spends most of his time inside but were building him his own little outdoor enclosure
i dont want to wakeup with my precious duck in pieces
