I'm going to be getting 3-5 eggs from a friend. And want to keep a trio just for pets and also whenever they hatch out the occasional clutch for ducks to sell and birds for the table. How is the taste of Muscovy and are they easy to pluck and such?
Thanks!

Granted, this is only what I have heard, so don't take just my word on this...

• Ducks are harder to pluck than chickens
• Muscovie meat is very good...more like steak than chicken

Sam Sam Sam a pic is worth a thousand words.

The taste is great like a high end cut of beef, very lean. We skin ours and with practice takes about 5 minutes to skin. You get 2 boneless skinless breasts about a pound to 2 pounds each, we debone the leg 1/4's and make duck sausage.

They do sort of. We haven't found a way to cook them yet that wasn't good. They are really good in a stir fry! And the sausage comes out super good. Last time we made a sweet Italian that was really good.
