So I am trying to get my muscovies to start laying eggs. These are last years hatch. So I have more or less tried to kick them out of the chicken coop. They were staying out most of the time anyway. I have a box set up with bedding and straw, cut a hole in it and set a food pan in there. I have a pan of water next to the opening.

They have found the water and the food and I have even seen them inside it. Plenty of room and private. So now my chickens have found the box too and I just went in and found a brown egg in a nest the chickens have made in it.

Muscovy lay white eggs right? How in the world am I going to get these ducks to nest and lay and have ducklings for me?

Mine have finaly started laying,go find all the spots they could be laying in.
Alot of times they lay where they want to.I found my first 2 in the old shop, then after that they started laying in where my male LGD sleeps and eats, guess they feel safer with him around....
Muscovy eggs are huge next to chicken eggs.

They could be laying anywhere. It took mine a few tries to settle on a spot. She is currently setting on a clutch of 14 in the nesting box of the bantam chickens coop. Go figure!?

Ha Ha..you are going to scream. I AM SCREAMING...Mine are still not laying. I took mine out of the hen house about 2 weeks ago and they have total rein of the yard, pond, little crevices, large rose bushes( about 300) of them and still no eggs.... Why are they torturing me??

I am glad I am not alone in this frustration. Today I saw the drake after one of the hens. She keeps flying or running away from him. I am sure it is just a matter of time. I have 3 hens and 1 drake.
