You can eat the devil's horn? I thought red your dead

These are black looking in the book, Black and trumpet shaped. Kind of ugly but I am not ready to try or even hunt for them yet.

Those aren't black trumpets. I think they are the same as what Chicken Girl 15 posted here a while back.

There's some really good examples and photos of Black trumpets on that Gentleman Forager site on FB.


These are black trumpets . They remind me alot of a chanterelle the way they flip up like an inverted umbrella. This is not my photo. Photo credits go to the FB site I mentioned above.

I had a successful hunt this morning.

I found Old man of the woods, Hen of the woods, and larch bollettes!

Here is the hen of the woods, I found 8 harvested 2 and got 6 pounds of meat.

Sheesh.... I need to toss my kids back outsde.... Force them to find more shrooms.

When I was on my trip and on my little Walks. I think I found one Bolete. Mousies were finding it too by the looks of some nibbles on the stem there.
