Oh boy doesn't that look like fun!

Sure does.. Did you see that grilled Hen! Wow that looked so good.

After Morels whats our first summer mushroom? I am not counting on finding any Morels.

Keep looking . That one is before and with morels . I know it as pheasant back . I seldom pick them . I like them that little .

For us, one of the first ones I see are actually Coprinus comatus. There is a dirt road here that we all call "Shaggy Mane Road" because there are days you can literally drive from spot to spot, open your car door and pick them without even getting out.

I've never seen that particular polypore in our woods, I'll hve to keep a sharper lookout for it! It sounds really interesting!

That is SO AWESOME that there are mushroom ID classes... I would so go to that! Alas, I am way out here in the Middle of Nowhere and would probably have to drive at least two hours one way to attend such a thing.

On the bright side, I can often just walk outside my door and find Agaricus campestris and every year I have a very nice fruiting of Pleurotus ostreatus in the orchard. I heard it was not supposed to grow on apple trees but obviously this one does not read mushroom books!

When does your Morel season start? Here in Ohio it starts beginning of May. In Michigan it starts middle of May/end of May. But I'm not sure when it starts in Minnesota where you are.....

I have never eaten a shaggy mane yet.

I think ours starts last week of April until first week of May then runs until last week, or a tad less, I am trying to think when the lilacs bloom...
I'm going to risk the deer ticks this year and try finding a few morels, I've tried a few times and was largely disappointed. Too brown, too camouflaged.

I am too. My cousin that I hunted with last fall has not really shown any interest in taking me Morel hunting. I think he is being selfish. I have no idea where I will look for them around here.
