It's a dry spring here. I have hopes for morels but unless there's some nice warm rains here....I'm thinking it might be another low year for morels around here. Much like last year.

Have any of you ever heard of a morel growing in a manure pile?
Ralphie I found these on/in my compost pile. But it's just an old pile of weeds and bark from scraping a fire break.
I did go back to the pile as you suggested and found this one. Apparently while working tractor in area of pile it brushed them off. One falling to ground on the last scraping of tractor. The last one was still on pile but not rooted.

I am going to try them, but I do not have much hope......I have a cousin that does ok with them, but he seems reluctant to take me to his spots..........
Well you Lucky Duck!!!!![]()
Oh gorgeous! Hooray!
First time I've had a wild mushroom. You hear so many stories about the poisonous ones I was a little leery. I was like well it's been 2 hours now and I'm still here.![]()
Lol! We found some wild coral (I think) mushrooms growing on a log out back last fall and after extensive research, we ate them. They were very spicy raw but savory cooked. I could not get my parents to try it AT ALL! They are absolutely terrified of being poisoned by a wild mushroom lol
