We've only found a few so far. Seems several people discovered our mushroom hunting grounds! They're delicious! The only thing I hate about them is soaking and cleaning the bazillion bugs out that live in there!
Nice haul, just started finding some tiny ones here in michigan, won't be long. For anyone looking to do it, make sure you know the difference between a true morel and a false one. They look almost identical and the mistake could be deadly. A morels cap and stem are all one piece, a false the cap sits on the stem like a bell and are filled with a cottony thread alot of times. Keep up the good work, i cannot wait to find a mess. $100-$140 a pound on the internet right now.

Good question... anyone know about Mass...??
Good that you are thinking about it.
Look for local mycological societies in your area. It is important to learn about different mushrooms in your area. Shrooms can look different depending on where they grow, and different stages of their growth. A baby Destroying Angel or Death Cap can look an awful lot like an edible puffball. The names are no joke, it easily could be a fatal mistake.
There are some groups of shrooms that are fairly easy to ID like Oyster, Bolete, Morel, and Chantrelle.

Imp thanks for the info. I'm going to see if there are any courses available.
Whoa...$100 per lb.?! I better get my shroom gear on. I like them but wow, not that much lol. I was talking to a friend about how you just can't find these like we used to. There's lots of factors but he offered up the tip to collect them in a mesh bag, that way as you walk spores will spread and hopefully help produce more. Its turkey season here, and often the turkeys find the mushrooms before hunters do- they love 'em too!
