Hey all, I'm trying to get an idea of what to do next. My 11 month old Mascovy female has a pretty big wound on her back I'm not sure if its from my Drake's or if a rat got her in the night but it happened yesterday. (I care for my ducks once a day so anything out of the ordinary I notice right away so I no it definitely happened yesterday) once I found her I quickly set up my large dog plastic kennel and she's now away from the other to keep an eye on her and her wounds but what all can I do to help her heal better?? I've never had this issue before they don't normally seem to fight or anything like that that I have seen or heard (I have 4 and only one seems to show signs of being a Drake she was definitely the smallest but she was born super small as well ) please give me some guidance she's my most tame and loveable one. Thanks in advance.

I will have to get some today when I go down to check on her. I didnt want to over well her more yesterday after removing her from the pen.

My mom's to be coming over today so I'll see if I can get her to help hold her so I can get some pictures if not I'll try to get some in the kennel she's in at the moment.

The main thing is to separate her to a safe place which you have done. Clean the wounds with a disinfectant such as betadine (povidone iodine) or chlorhexidene, or soap and water. Apply an antibiotic ointment (plain neosporin, triple antibiotic ointment, etc. twice a day.) Offer her food and water.

She won't let me get a better picture of it but this is only a small amount showing that I could get in the picture my self :( I believe it might be deeper then I first seen. This wound is on her left side.

Thank you she has food water and I just took some lettuce down with me when I went to check on her only thing I didn't do since I wasn't sure what was best to do was clean her wounds I didn't want to cause her more harm or stress.

Here's another picture of the wound but also her poor eye which looks a bit better then yesterday that makes me believe she was being picked on ...

You can clean that eye with saline or water, and apply the antibiotic ointment (plain Neosporin or Terramycin) to the eye as well twice a day. The wound on her back is fairly large, so I would disinfect it and get some antibiotic ointment on it to keep it soft and to prevent infection. Offer some high protein treats such as egg, tuna, or things she likes. Keep a bucket or pan of water near so she can clean her face.
