They are growing so fast and to think this Wednesday I pick up 12 Golden Reds and 3 Black Sex links. Have I gone crazy or what?

aren't they cute when they start to perch. hey if you're crazy well then you are not alone, just look around and you're in good company, so go get some more chicks, lol.

When I'm done I will have 39 chicks. My house is ging to smell like a chicken coop.

But I was wondering if someone could tell me how many roos I will need? I do want a roo.

I have 2 hens for one roo and believe me, he needs more girls. They had no feathers on their backs going into winter so we had to cage him to let the girls grow their feathers back so they would not freeze. I just got 4 RIR's and I know that will not be enough but the bf does not want a lot. Let the roo out and his spurs still are not cut.

I believe that the rule is 1 rooster for every 8 to 10 hens.

Very cute chicks. You might want to wait a while and see if any of the chicks you have are roosters. Only time will tell. We ordered 1 rooster for our flock and we are certain that we have at least 3 roosters.

Is it true that if you have more than 1 roo that they will fight with each other. Or if they are raised together will they get along?
