Today is day 20, and I decided to go check on Miss Penny for the night, and when I picked her up to see how many eggs were under her today (some of the other hens get in the box with her and lay their eggs, ugh!! I have tried to move her,but she won't stay on the eggs anywhere else but the nesting box, so we have had to deal and keep removing unmarked eggs) and when I picked her up, something furry brushed against my hand and scared me half to death. Well to my suprise this is what I found........
Here she/he is peaking out from under his mommy.
It is either a Golden Comet/Dominique or Buff Orp/Dominique cross.
I saw one other pip for sure, but without moving the other eggs around, I couldn't tell if there were any more. I can't wait till tomorrow morning!!!
???? for someone.... What happens to the egg shells once they hatch? I cannot find any trace of the shell.
