Thank you, still cant believe shana laid and hatched 4 yellows and a black with yellow XD the white side is strong with these genes may the 4 be with the quail

Petted, then picked up shana to show off the 7 babies, i might have to raise the other 8 in a brooder the 7 seem a handful , i also took out her last egg thats a few days behind the 4 she hatched (vlads egg) and the runt black who hatched last in the incubator is doing fine now running with the herd eating drinking(was worried but he was just tired).

Well we got a pip and possibly 2 pips one is due today according to my records and the other is either due today or tomorrow was a mix up, but it might be due today cuz its the blank one that shana sat on but was due later then hers so i put it in the incubator, but here are pics, time to get a personal brooder ready to hand tame a baby, then ill keep one of shanas as its mate/friend,which i will let stay with her and her new baby mate/friend untill im done hand taming then ill introduce them , hmmm how bad is cousin to cousin breeding i wonder when the parents are siblings, do i need new blood already ?

Small animals like quail have a high tolerance for mild inbreeding, I wouldn’t worry about it. After a year or 2 you can look into bringing in some new blood.

Ty for the info, wanted reassurance, i think ill keep the pudgy yellow i like since its alucards baby and hope its the opposite sex of this one thats hatching ❤ see what colors come from breeding the cousins(which im sure the people buying the extras will do)

My originals were probably all cousins, then I added Myshire eggs the end of last season, and this year I have k dale eggs in the bator, so I think I’m diversified for quite a while. When I worked at a pet shop in college, we had a tank of hamsters that just kept repopulating with the same male and his offspring, eventually they started spontaneously mutating out cinnamon babies, and the store owner ordered new ones and fed most of the old babies to the snakes. I saved the big male that we named Gotti and put him in the new tank haha, continuing his line.

Okay so i was right that isn't a pip on fox egg cuz it has a pip now and its on the opposite side so it caught up to blank egg that shana incubated all but 2-3 days
