My 2 Ameraucanas are approximately 8 weeks old. Any roos?

I bought these birds from a guy who said they were true Ameraucanas, not easter eggers. I thought it was weird that they don't have muffs or a beard. He showed me the parents and they had the same color pattern as these, but were bearded and muffed. Anyway, I'm actually hoping one's a roo so I can breed him with my EE's. Here's a look:

This one is my hopeful roo. You can see it has some red on the wing feathers and the black on its tailfeathers has quite a bit of gloss to it, which I thought wasn't common for pullets at this age, but then again, I am still a new egg :P

This is the one I'm pretty sure is a pullet, but its tailfeathers are twice as long as the others and they are also starting to have a glossy look. It is also a little bigger than the other, but they hatched out of the same clutch.

A headshot of the hopeful roo.

A closer look at the reddish feathers on the hopeful roo.

And this last one's just showing the tailfeathers on the one I think's a pullet. What do ya'll think I have?

I think they're both male. They are very definitely not Ameraucanas, sorry. They have EE patterns in their plumage so could be beardless EEs. EEs are mixed breeds anyway, so come with or without beards.

Even on occasion, one of my Ameraucanas would have no beard-you just don't use that one for breeding if it happens.

Really? Well I'm not disappointed, then, I was suspicious myself of what they were but easter eggers are my favorite so it's actually ok haha! I just paid easter egger price for them anyway. I thought all easter eggers came bearded and muffed though. What do you make of that?

Nah, EEs have no standard so they can have any color legs, any color plumage and lay any color eggs, have beards or no beards.

I make my own EEs with Delaware x Ameraucana or Del x EE hens (used to be BR x Ameraucana when I had a BR rooster). My own barred EE, Panda, has no beard or muffs, but lays a light olive green egg with a matte finish. Panda has white skin and is black barred. Her half sister is blue barred, with nice beard and muffs, but with yellow skin and lays a greenish-blue egg with shiny finish. They have the same blue Ameraucana mother and their sires were BR brothers.

Good deal, then! Thanks for your input, it was very helpful. Compared to my ladies, I didn't think these guys were very pretty, but sometimes the ugliest chicks turn out to be the loveliest chickens!
