A few weeks ago she was walking in circles and we gave her save-a-chick and vitamins and she bounced right back. She started gaining weight and was doing great. Now, she can't even stand. She starts shaking and breathing harder sometimes. We brought her inside and are still giving the save-a-chick and vitamins. What should we do?

Have you kept up with the vitamins? If so, what kind and amount are you giving her? I'm wondering it could be wryneck.

Her neck isn't twisted like it was before, but now she can't walk at all. I quit giving the vitamins after she seemed to recover. I feed all of my chickens Dumor Grower/Finisher. We gave her the save-a-chick that has vitamins in it and crushed up childrens vitamins.

She made a super fast recovery before, and seemed to be doing great. I just don't understand.

I'm sorry. I am thinking that you may be dealing with Marek's. Marek's can hit and then go into remission. The second time out, it comes back angry.

I would euthanize and have a necropsy done. You need to know what is going on and that is the only way that you will know for sure. I'm so sorry :(

I had an issue with some tolbunt polish chicks on medicated chick feed Turns out the medicine stuff in it inhibits the absorption of vitamin B so a couple of them started wavering when they tried to walk, then they would stumble forward and eventually would just sit on their hocks. They still ate and drank fine. Then the toes and feet started curling. I gave them one drop of poly vi sol in the beak each day and crushed vitamin B complex tablets and put in the feed. The one that had s;ymptoms for only a couple days recovered wihin a day...the other took more than a week. I kept them on it till I switched them to regular feed. You can try it...it won't hurt for sure.

I have removed her from my flock, but, if it's Marek's, does this mean the others will get it too?
