i just looked and you are RIGHT!! for some odd reason i thought the giant cochins had no feathers on their feet. But they do,...lol darn Rural King people have no clue what they are talking about. Now i have to guess what kind of chicken it is??

Do you guy's really think my big 8 week old is a boy?? I was really hopeing it was going to bea girl. The rosecomb looks girl'ish...but the wattels are sagging like a roo's would tho at this age

The first one looks like a roo to me. Very pretty one!

The 1st Australorp chick looks like a roo, but the 2nd one appears to be a pullet. All of ours had red combs pretty young, but the roo's comb was much redder, a little larger, and he had the bright red wattles like your first Australorp picture.

I agree with the others that the "Cochin" appears to be something else. I have several Cochins and they all had feathered legs from birth. Even one pet quality Cochin that I bought at a flea market had a little bit of feathers on his legs when I brought him home. The others that I have had legs and feet covered in feathers by this age.

No clue, it's been so long since I've had chicks that age...They're so freakin cute though! I miss mine

LOL!!! What about their saddle feathers??? Usually between 4-8 weeks you'll be able to see points or rounded tips, which is the easiest way to sex them IMO...it's either that or we play the guessing game for another month or so and see who's right

I think the second to the last one is definately a roo, though, and #3. Not sure about the others, and one thing I've noticed about trying to sex them from their combs/wattles is that the development differs breed to breed. My standard breeds (leghorn, BO, Rock, and BA) were easy to sex that way, but my ameraucana, salmon, and silver phoenix took a lot longer with the comb and wattle development, I sexed them based on their saddle feathers. I hope this post makes sense, it's 3:30am right now LOL....

sry to sound soo noob'ish...what are the saddel feather's and where are they located on the bird??

Im really upset that all of you think my first chick is a roo....i have gotten very close to it

For the rest of you opinion's...i believe you are all spot on!!! The only one who is makeing me 2nd guess is my BR with the SLIGHTLY spikey'er comb. Im sure the other BR is a pullet by gaugeing her very tiny comb...but the other is stumping me.

Also, now i have a mystery chick on my hands. It's not a coachin...so what is it?? I think it posed for me when i took the picture..lol
