Using pvc will work fine if you have it already. Do you know what size it is?

One method is to glue it all together and put a place to fill it on the top and a place to drain it on the bottom and fill the thing with water. Depending on how big you make it, water is pretty heavy.

Also being on the farm you prob have extra t posts lying around. You can drive them in the ground till there is 4 feet of the post above ground and use hardware cloth http://www.twpinc.com/ (follow this link. See the Picture of the welded stainless. That is the size you are looking for. ) You can get it in 4 foot high sections so that way you won't have to do any cutting. and if you make the run 4' wide you can just unroll the roll along the top and use zip ties to hold it down.

I hope this gives ya some ideas.
