My 6/7 week old Black Angus heifer is on her way!!!!!!!!

Get her in a small area where she can't run away from you. You will have to gain her trust and in a small area where she can't hide, it will go faster. Stick a finger or 2 into her mouth to stimulate her suckling reflex. As she sucks, get the bottle ready to put in her mouth. Quickly move your finger to the side and put the nipple in her mouth. Then remove your finger from her mouth. Ta da! It may take a few tries, but when she gets hungry enough she will eat.

As she is eating, talk to her in a low calming voice and rub her head. This will build her trust.

well, i tried everyones suggestions for about an hour with...nothing. then i got out the bucket/bottle/nipple thingy and she immediately took right to it! Its so much easier to figure out and a much softer nipple. Also, when u squeeze is it automatically releases the milk when you let go....it pretty much teaches them to suck! but, when using it you dont have to! anywho i got 3 or so pints down her and she wanted more, but i didnt want to give her more since she hadnt eaten since yesterday...didnt want to shock her system. ill give her a tad more later tonight before i go to bed

i feel so much better and soooo happy! i also gave her some electrolytes to help with the stress....it also said it helps them absorb the water they need out of the milk better? cool!
