They don't care that I know of, but they cannot see well in the dark, they pretty much 'shut down' if it's too dark, and if they can't see well it's easier for them to get hurt if it's too dark like it probably would be on cloudy days at least.

Also, it's just healthier for there to be light and sunshine whenever possible in there IMO. I say windows if you can find any that are good.
 
Egg production is best if a window on E side of coop for earliest light. They need light inside and ventilation too. Some vents near top and maybe two low vents that can be partially blocked or closed in cold weather. I would do an outside shelter over head for a part of run since you have so much rain. Bad for them to sit indoors all day. Fumes and humidity unhealthy, so keep poop cleaned out daily if you have a poop plank under roosts. Otherwise, cover poop daily with fresh leaves, grass clippings, sawdust, wood chips, straw, etc. Clean litter out twice a year. Recycle onto grass and chop up with lawnmower. Rain will do the rest.
