My 7 week old Silkie Crowed!

So, quick question. If you have a clutch of Silkies and one starts crowing, will the rest in the batch that are Roos start as well? I have a 6 week old doing his absolute best to be a crowing big boy. He falls terribly short of the mark but gets 100% for effort.

So cute!! They have been cracking me up with thier squawks. But to answer your question, no unfortunately not necessarily. I saw someone on this forum that had a roo start to crow at 6 weeks and his brother that hatched with him didn't crow for the first time until 5 months old.

Well, damn! The suspense is killing me! I had thought the one that crowed was my only pullet...........and then he crowed!

Found this thread becos I wanted to know if 2 months + is too young for roosters to crow... But I guess it's not. My little Silkie rooster crowed today... It was so cute. His incubator hatch mate (a polish) started a couple of weeks ago and we were surprised to hear our Silkie crowing right after the little Polish. Both of them were singing their little rooster hearts out.

My last few OEGB cockerels have consistently began crowing @ 5 - 6 weeks with one BBR that began at 4 weeks. He must have been proud to have hatched on Christmas Day.

We're definitely keeping them. They are good friends at the moment. They go into a panic when we separate them so hopefully they will continue to be good friends.
