My 7 wk old Barred rock Big Mama sitting on 10 baby chicks

Blooie thanks that makes me feel a lil better. Ive been kind of worried about having such a mixed flock and if as they get older that will factor in as to how well they get along. Seems like you have quite the mixture though and they do ok. And yes Big Mama been raising the chicks since she was 5 wks old the 1st day they came home she ddnt like em much but the end of the day she would sit on top the brooder and watch them and by day 3 she was inside with them and since it was so hot out and they were in the shed we were shutting the heat lamp off during the day and they all huddled under her for warmth and she let em and been raising them since. Her and the lil roosters kind of had a dominance issue. They would chase her and peck the back of her legs til she turned around n pecked them back. She also seemed to favor the other barred rocks at first and would only take them out of the lil coop when we were bringing them outside. She would chase all the others back in and not let them out to explore the yard with her for the 1st day but we let them all out anyway and then they did fine. We have been able to move them completely outside because she keeps em warm and takes good care of them. I just wonder if being like this so young will affect her in any way?

I wouldn't think so, ntvangel. She should still produce well, and who knows? You have the makings of an excellent broody there, so that should put you ahead of the game if you can get some fertile eggs for her when the time comes!
