I think alot of people with tractors move them into some sort of shed/garage/barn in the wintertime - the portability of the tractors allow for this, provided you have the room.
ozzie
We built the tractor because it was small and we live in a subdivision. We didn't even think about insulation or heat for winter. We dont have a barn or a shed
We will probably be rapping alot of plstic around the fencing
This is our Arc/ coop, & it is holding up just lovely. It's over on top of the garden spot right now. We have 13 chickens in there, ( it is insulated,) & it just snowed about 6 inches in the past 2 days ~ the chickens love it, & we haven't even been putting the ramp up at night ~ just shut the two vents on the top. If it does get cold enough to put the ramp up, however, we will open the vent above the nest boxes, as that will let in some air, but not much.

There is a link on this site for more detailed specs / pics.
We get down to about -25*F.

Dont you have problems on a morning when you drop the run door ? the chicks will be standing on it waiting to get out
Our chickens stand on it, they love it, it's like riding the elevator or something ~ they all pile up on the ramp, and sit there waiting for us to put it down ~ that's WHEN we actually pull it up at night. We don't pull it up & down too very often anymore... maybe it's laziness....maybe I was just tired of them baawwwkkking at me to let them down...lol.
