I used a free plan to construct my coop and run. I've found it to be very functional for a backyard set up in an in-town city neighborhood. (I have about 3/4 acre backing up to woods.) I have six pullets in residence, and that's about all I want at the moment.

The roost is a 3" wooden curtain rod (dowel) set in two metal closet brackets. Pretty sturdy. It looks close to the wall, but it's actually about 12" away.
