Hooterville, thank you.

Once you start candling, it's hard to stop. I love babies and I love watching them develop!

CANDLE98, yep! From what I've read, when you candle around this time the embryo is often referred to as a spider. All the little veins running from the embryo sure make it look that way! Thanks!

gabrielle1976, you're welcome! Glad you found it useful.

AngieChick, I'd considered doing that, but I was afraid to break the plastic holding the wires in place. Besides, I wouldn't mind having two auto turners...

*coughcoughstagedhatchescoughcough* Thanks!!

The turner I hacked up was one from GQF, for the hova-bator. But yes, I am looking at my oven bator and seeing that I can add 2 more turners. That would make 105 eggs capacity. More is always better! So, yeah, you totally need another turner, no question.

*edited to correct bad math.

The GQF was an easy sawing job. I just took out the row furthest away from the motor. It took 10 minutes and still works great.

here is the thread with my oven:

I'm happy with it, it's now keeping a steady temp (generally within .2 with my fancy new reptile thermostat). It was a bit of a process, but seems to be working well. We will see, I am putting in silkies next week. DH looked at it and started giggling maniacly, so he's going to artsy it up somehow. He makes me nervous when he gets that glint in his eye

Do you have pics anywhere of your fridge bator? It sounds like a similar conversion.

Good job Cass..that pic is awesome! I usually don't even touch my blue/green eggs until day 10 because it's so hard to see how they're doing. What a terrific pic to help others know what they're looking for.
