My Araucana Hatch! * 4 HATCHED - Chick PICS!! *

Awesome! Our lonely Rhode Island White hen hopefully won't be the only white girl anymore.

Can't wait to see what colors pop out. I've got my fingers crossed for a duckwing or a blue. All of those colors are excellent though. Eeee!

It's Hatch Day! I am hoping they will start to pip later this evening.

I did have a problem with my temps on Day 18 when I removed the auto turner. Temperatures fell down to around 94 and stayed there for several hours. It took me 2 days to get the temp back up to 99.5. I think they will hatch just fine still, but they may take an extra day or so to do it. Any advice from someone that has had something similar happen?

2 active pips now and 2 other eggs trying very very hard to pip. Lots of rocking. 2 haven't been moving much but I'm not giving up on them yet.

Nope, not hatched yet!

Oooooooooooooh all right, Mahonri.

I've been moving different sets of eggs around because of the staged hatchings I've got going on. I decided that these guys (and then the silkies and dark brahmas) needed to be in the HovaBator for hatch, since it's the easiest to clean up afterwards. I am also able to take pictures of them in it. Can't photograph the eggs while in the fridge bator -- I was never able to cut out a hole for the window.

This is where they are at right now. This was the first egg to pip, but he/she is being slower than the second pipper.

The slow pokes probably aren't going to actually hatch until tomorrow at this rate. Except for maybe Pip #2. He's chug-a-lugging at his zipping now.
