Well, I had to get up for it anyway. 4:30AM rolls around and DH nudges me and says, "What is that noise?!" Then after a minute or so he adds, "I think one of the chicks hatch!"
Sure enough...
So does that little butt-nubbins mean he/she will have a tail? And... does he/she look sorta blue??
8:15AM or so... finally got up again. #2 hatched! And this one doesn't have a nearly as pronounced butt-nubbins! So maybe I've got one tailed and one rumpless? This one looks pretty dark. I'm guessing black.
And now that #1 is drying out, I see some variations in his/her fluff. Some darker and lighter gray. What is that, splash?
^ I is as sleepy as my people-mommy ^
Both of the white eggs have pips and are starting to zip. Still not seeing much with those two other eggs. Once all the little guys are zipped and dried off, I'll move them to the brooder and then check the last two.
I went back in and took a closer look at my dark guy, and I think he's actually a dark splash. He's got a lot of variations in his fluff that should be quite interesting to see when he's all dried out.
