altho I buy my feed from a feed store..I've heard that
Walmart sells chicken feed cheaper..
some feed stores sell 25 pound bags of feed..
you'll need layer feed, and the hens also need crushed oyster shell..for calcium..in a separate feeder..
if you have any TUMS in the house..crush one up in her feed.
in the meantime..if you can..make up this mixture:
This amount feeds one bird
Feed the birds three times a day for three days a mixture of
This mixture is what you will need for the entire three feeds
. It is not 3 egg yolks and 3 teaspoons of honey etc
. divide the contents into three
½ to 1 egg yolk
.(hard boiled)
1 teaspoon honey
.
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
.
3 to 4 tablespoons rolled oats
(regular oatmeal)
don't make it "doughy"..
you can also give her a teaspoon of canned cat beef cat food, or dry kitten food ..for extra protein..or cooked eggs...(scrambled or hard boiled)
if you can get her some poultry vitamins, that would be great..
or you can get Poly-vi-sol liquid baby vitamins (Enfamil brand..no iron)..3 drops a day in beak for a week..then taper off.
hope your little hen gets better, and you'll be able to get some chicken feed soon...
don't get scratch..try and get some layer pellets or crumble.
when things get better for you and you have some extra money.. try and get them a wormer..Wazine 17 will do..
good luck.
