I got 3 chicks given to me when I bought 2 laying hens. After watching them grow I am concerned that I may have got a rooster in the mix.
I was hoping someone may be able to help me make that distinction clear.

One more thought - could it be a Jersey Giant?

Yellow underfoot = Jersey Giant
White Underfoot = Black Australorp

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but the bird in question is definitely a rooster. ( He's likely a Black Australorp, but you can check the bottoms of his feet to be certain. If they are an obvious yellow, he's a Jersey Black Giant. If they are another color (whitish, pinkish, grayish), then he is a Black Australorp.

By the long pointed saddle feathers and sickle feathers that are developing on it. Also, the comb is larger and redder than those of the hens.
