x2I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but the bird in question is definitely a rooster.( He's likely a Black Australorp, but you can check the bottoms of his feet to be certain. If they are an obvious yellow, he's a Jersey Black Giant. If they are another color (whitish, pinkish, grayish), then he is a Black Australorp.
