Got some more pics of the oldest of the blue/barred girls. They are finally old enough to go play outside, so it will be much easier getting pictures of them. I have 5 blue girls from the earliest batches, and have 4 growing up that are just a month old. I just had a hatch a day ago, and didnt get a single blue girl. They arent easy to come by, it seems.
Another update. The babies are growing up! Its so fascinating watching them grow up. Even tho they are plymouth rocks, it is a total outcross, so I wasnt really sure what to expect. Im seeing a few that I will definitely keep, not only with beautiful coloring and lacing, but with really good type. Those I will breed back to Mr. B. Im really amazing at the gorgeous lacing Im getting from these. Can't wait til this first generation starts laying; I hope they pick up some laying characteristics from their good-laying moms.
Thank you so much, I just feel lucky I was able to get these birds when I did. And they are so much fun to work on this color with the barred girls. I hope the blue girls pick up this spring, I really want to hatch some of their eggs.
They are really neat looking birds! Thanks for sharing!
I have a question: What differences are there between the BBS Rocks and BBS Orps? I know Rocks generally have yellow legs and beaks. Is this a project you are working on?
The orps are bigger than the rocks and probably fluffier. The orps have white on their legs, the rocks yellow. I have 2 black rock pullets that are absolutely drop dead gorgeous, type to die for. They are pretty orp-ish, since they are so fluffy. Just not as big. Ive seen some black orps that were huge.
